Trauma-informed counselling and psychotherapy that meets you where you are. You don't have to have it all figured out.
About Me
I'm Amanda Boafo — a trauma-informed counsellor and psychotherapist based in Albion Park in the Illawarra region of NSW. My practice is built on the belief that healing happens when you feel genuinely safe, seen, and understood.
Together, we can explore what happened, make sense of it, and help you move forward in a way that feels true to you. You don't need to have it all figured out before you reach out.
I work with young adults through to older adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, complex life transitions, and the kind of pain that's hard to put into words.
What I Offer
Sessions are available in-person in the Illawarra, or via phone and video Australia-wide. Medicare rebates are available with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan.
A gentle, evidence-informed space to process what happened — at a pace that feels safe for you. Drawing on trauma-informed and EMDR approaches.
Understanding the patterns beneath the anxiety, and building a different relationship with your nervous system — grounded in compassion, not pressure.
Support for depression, low mood, emotional dysregulation, and burnout — making sense of how you're feeling and finding steadier ground.
Compassionate, non-pathologising support for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and the personality-related emotional and relational difficulties that often sit alongside it.
For relational pain, attachment wounds, and the patterns that show up again and again — gently exploring what shaped them and what's possible now.
Support for loss, change, identity shifts, and the experiences that leave you questioning who you are or where you belong.
The Space
The Albion Park therapy room is intentionally calm: soft lighting, natural textures, comfortable seating, and a few plants. A space designed so your body knows, before your mind does, that nothing here will rush you.
Tea, water, tissues, weighted blankets and grounding objects are always within reach. You're welcome to sit, lie, walk or simply look out the window.
Getting Started
Pick whichever feels easiest. There's nothing to prepare — just reach out as you are.
In our first sessions, we get to know each other and figure out what kind of support feels most helpful for you.
Healing isn't linear and that's okay. We'll go gently, together — and you'll always have a say in how we work.
Medicare rebates available with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Acknowledgement of Country
Trauma Matters 2U acknowledges the Dharawal people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work, and provide care. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise their enduring connection to Country — to land, waters, and community. Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
